Dale Francis Banowetz

Dale has been a lifelong resident of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at the Sugar Creek area.  He has been volunteering, doing landscaping and planting flowers (approximately 5000 to 6,000 flowering plants) each year at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, Iowa, for more than 45-plus years.

He loves the Spiritual Church Songs and belongs to the Sugar Creek Choir, volunteering with their Christmas Caroling.  He belongs to the Santa Group that volunteers with their annual visits to Iowa City with area Lyons Club.  He was an avid volunteer at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC) and the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL) in Bellevue, Iowa, with some landscaping, planting flowers, planting trees, and having the Sugar Creek Choir Christmas Caroling visit with songs.  He also volunteers at the MVCC during the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (Bellevue, Iowa) Service (Mass and Communion).  He has loved singing duet with Ron Koos during the Catholic Church Services for the residents and tenants at the MVCC and the SVAL for more than 21-plus years.

Dale was born to Art and Marie (Michel) Banowetz, and he had four other siblings in the household:  Betty (Burken), Glen, Jane (O’Tool), and Marlene (Cain).  He graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Sugar Creek, Iowa; Northeast Community High School in Elvira, Iowa; and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting.  He served in the U.S.A. Army in Vietnam, hence a U.S.A.
