As of Wednesday (3/11/2020), regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19, Wuhan China Virus) Precautions, we are not allowing any visitors into the facility until further notice.  We are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC 24/7: Saving Lives, Protecting People Guidelines) Precautions.  Activities have been cancelled until further notice, by order of the Director of Nursing, Administrator, Medical Doctor, and the CDC.

We understand and know how difficult this is, but please remember, that we are doing our best to protect the health and well-being of our residents and tenants, your loved ones.  We will keep you posted of any further changes.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  We appreciate your cooperation with this.  Thank You!

In-house Individualized Activities with the residents and tenants resume, as able.  We want to thank all our dedicated staff for caring for all the residents and tenants.  And, we want to thank all our dedicated volunteers, our community, our schools and area churches, who were planning to visit and assist with Activities during the past four weeks.  We look forward to seeing you all again in the future, as God May Bless.

Residents, tenants, and their families were/are encouraged to connect with their loved ones via phone calls and/or video chats that are available all day.

Individualized in-room daily Catholic Services & Rosary prayers were held on the local cable Channel-32 for the Catholics during the last five weeks and on Sundays.

Individualized in-room Lutheran Service on local cable Channel-26 was held for the Lutherans on the last five Sundays.

Individualized in-room “Exercises” were held with the residents during the last five weeks.

Individualized in-room “Manicures” were held for the residents at Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC) and the tenants at Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL) during the last five weeks.

Individualized “Games of Choice” were available for the residents and tenants during the afternoon, Monday – Thursday.

“Card Games” were available with the tenants at the SVAL (using appropriate social distancing and following the CDC Guidelines) during the afternoon on Tuesdays of the last five weeks.

“Something Homemade – Christmas Cards, Christmas Ornaments, Christmas Ribbons, and Dog Bones ” was held individually with the residents (using appropriate social distancing and following the CDC Guidelines) with Joy during the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Other fun activities with/for the residents included:  “Daily Chronicle”, “Tom Turkey Takes A ‘Rib’-ing Trivia”, “Celebrating Thanksgiving Crossword”, “Thanksgiving Riddle Jumble”, “Thanksgiving Dinner Search & Solve”, “November Trivia”, “EZ Does It – Christmas Music”, Christmas Carols Crossword, “December EZ Does It Trivia”, “Remembering Gift Giving – Reminiscing”, “What Red & White & Very Light Trivia”, “Santa Claus Wordsearch”, “Christmas Word Quilt”, “Christmas Song Wordies Puzzle”, “Gift Giving Puzzle”, “A-mazing Mistletoe Puzzle”, “Santa’s many Names Trivia”, “Searching The Christmas Tree”, National Cupcake Day”, “Reminisce Holiday Songs Sheet”, Miracle on 34th Street search”, “Santa’s Secret Quote Sheet”, “Santa’s Workshop Puzzle”, “A-Mazing Reindeer Puzzle”, “Christmas Cookie Match Puzzle”, “December IQ Trivia”, “Famous December Birthdays Wordsearch”, “National Egg Nog Day”, “Making Sugar Plums Wordsearch”, “Christmas Eve with Chef Chad & Tracking Santa”, Ice Cream Bars, Gatorade Refreshments, “Connecting with the Families” and “Music”.

The residents and tenants were treated with ice cream bars/cones, root beer floats, lemonade, cookies, popsicles, and other food treat items (“goodies”) during the various fun activities throughout the last five weeks.

Dietary Department staff for hosting the “Happy Hour / Party”, where various food/drink treats/goodies were served for/to the residents/tenants by/while visiting them individually room-to-room during the afternoon on the last five Fridays.

“Treats with Chef Chad” featuring various flavorful drinks/fruits/foods/snacks/treats were held for/with the residents and tenants by/while visiting them individually room-to-room during the afternoon on the last five Mondays.

Chef Chad Myers (staff) for assisting Activities with “Music” being played on his stereo system during the evening time on five Mondays.

Brittany Knouse (staff) for assisting Activities with the Christmas Decorations and with the tenants assembling the SVAL Christmas Tree on Monday.

Theresa Schwager (staff) for assisting the residents with assembling the Christmas decorations on Tuesday with Joy.

Mary Jo Konrardy (staff, volunteer) for providing the giant balloon Snowman outside Christmas decorations inside the courtyard at the SVAL; Nicole Weis (staff) with her children Leonard & Jennifer Weis for providing and setting up Christmas decorations with a decorated Christmas Tree inside the SVAL courtyard; Diane Dempewolf (staff) and Kelsey Medinger (staff) for assisting with setting up the Christmas decorations inside the SVAL courtyard during the weekend, and for their assistance in Activities this past week.

Volunteers: Christy Anderson (staff) with her children, Nicole Weis (staff) and her children and “Helping Hands” for making Snowmen inside the SVAL courtyard during Sunday, and for their assistance in Activities.

Amber Olson (staff) and Tammy Olson (volunteers) for providing Christmas ornaments (Santa, Stocking & Penguin) for the residents to help “uplift their spirits”.

Kristine Carrier and the Lions Club and a special appearance from “Santa Claus” for visiting and Christmas Caroling outside of the windows of the MVCC and SVAL during the afternoon on Sunday.

Theresa Schwager (staff, volunteer) for assisting Activities with “Connecting with the families”, “Music”, and “Piano Music Box” for/with the residents during the morning on four Saturdays.

The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Bellevue Helping Hands, Maquoketa State Bank and Star Program, Bellevue Presbyterian Church and our Bellevue Churches and Community Schools Systems, and the surrounding Bellevue Area Communities for assisting in making this Christmas sparkle and possible in the lives of the residents and tenants this year.

Carrie Weaver (Bellevue Chamber Executive Director), the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, the Bellevue Chamber Board of Directors, all the Bellevue & Maquoketa area participants, Maquoketa Community Star Program (Maquoketa Community Services Board Members:  Wendy Zaruba, Mary Bartels, Katie Bopes, Mary Pat Burns, Ronelle Clark, Beth Hillebrand, JoAnn Latham, Mary Ann McLaughlin, Heath Munson, Tara Rosenbohm, Susie Ruchotzke, and Jodi Coakley) (34th Annual Christmas Star Program Maquoketa Community Services/Operation New View), the Maquoketa Community; all participating staff at MVCC/SVAL, and all the Anonymous individuals who were generous in reaching for a star, bringing packages on Tuesday afternoon.

“Santa” for arriving and giving us a glimpse into his workshop just days before Christmas.  Santa’s helpers have been busy preparing for their “midnight delivery” on Christmas Eve.  Carrie Weaver (Bellevue Chamber Executive Director), the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, the Bellevue Chamber Board of Directors: Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce (Carrie Weaver, Executive Director), Bellevue Chamber Board of Directors: (President Mark Herman, Secretary/Treasurer Brittany Ehlinger, Board Members: Steve Nemmers, Toby Giesemann, Dennis Schroeder, Cassie Kirk, and Joslyn Zimmermann), all of the Bellevue & Maquoketa area participants, Maquoketa Community Star Program (Wendy Zaruba and Tara Rosenbohm), Ronelle Clark & Laura Westhal (Christmas Star Program Maquoketa Community Services/Operation New View), the Maquoketa Community; all participating staff at MVCC/SVAL, and all the Anonymous individuals who were generous in reaching out to “grasp a star” which made a difference in the lives of our residents and tenants this Christmas.  For on this Christmas Friday morning, “Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”

(Dan & Gina Sargent and Deb & Paul Old) for providing Christmas meals as a “Thank You” to all of the Healthcare workers (staff) at Mill Valley Care Center and Sunrise Villa Assisted Living; with Presbyterian volunteers making this event possible this Christmas.
