Ray & Doris Theisen for hosting the game of “Euchre” [as volunteers at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC)] during the morning on four Fridays; and hosting “Music with Ray & Doris” for/with the tenants [at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL)] and the residents (at the MVCC) during the noontime on five Fridays, and the evening-time on four Sundays and five Tuesdays.

Kim Deppe (Republican) and Rosie Schwager (Democrat) (volunteers from the Jackson County Auditor’s Office) for visiting and giving the residents/tenants an opportunity to vote absentee on Friday (May 24, 2024) for the Primary Election on Tuesday (June 4, 2024),

The 36th Annual Jackson County Pro Rodeo in Bellevue, Iowa was held during June 20-22, 2024.  Lillie Longhorn (Miss Rodeo Iowa 2024), Lily Schulenberg (Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa 2024), Oakley Keeney (Little Miss Rodeo), Sage Medinger (All-Around Jr. Cowboy); and Rachael Kilburg and Stephanie Medinger (Jackson County Pro Rodeo Committee Members), for stopping by and presenting a short question and answer program, reading the duties of “Miss Rodeo Iowa”, and signing autographs for all the residents, tenants and staff (at the MVCC and the SVAL) during the morning on Friday.  Richard Helbing (resident) for presenting to Lillie Longhorn (Miss Rodeo Iowa) a bouquet of flowers in a vase (from our gardening activity) during this afternoon on Friday.  Connie Medinger (volunteer) and many other anonymous volunteers for assisting during this event.  Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) and all the involved staff for helping to make this a memorable event.

The Mennonite Choir (volunteers) for hosting “Music with the Mennonites” for/with the residents (at the MVCC) and the tenants (at the SVAL) during the evening time on Sunday.

Memorial Day is one of the federal holidays in the United States for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  It is observed on the last Monday of May.  On Memorial Day, we honor and thank all the heroic men and women who gave their lives while defending our nation and cherished freedoms.

Chef Kevin Hebert (Executive Chef, Healthcare of Iowa) for visiting MVCC/SVAL and hosting a live cooking demonstration (activity) in front of an involved audience of residents, tenants, family members, staff, volunteers, and visitors during the midmorning (breakfast at the SVAL) and in the afternoon (at the MVCC) on Tuesday.

Cheyanne Merrick’s Class from St. Joseph’s Catholic School (Bellevue, Iowa), (Pre-School to 3rd Grade Daycare) students, assisted by Claire & Anonymous (volunteers) for the adult coloring and games with the tenants (at the SVAL) during the afternoon on Tuesday.  Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) for providing the students with snacks and drinks (after all their hard work), and their playing “Fishing” games with the tenants.

Cheyanne Merrick’s Class from St. Joseph’s Catholic School (Bellevue, Iowa), (Pre-School to 3rd Grade Daycare students), assisted by Claire & Anonymous (volunteers) for reading stories to the tenants (at the SVAL) and assembling simple puzzles together with the residents, frosting cookies with the residents (at the MVCC) and playing “Noodle Ball” during the afternoon on Tuesday.  Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) for providing the students with books & puzzles.

Sara Wright (Guest Speaker at the SVAL) from the ASAC for hosting the presentation “Generation RX: “Safe Medication Practices for Better Health” and handing out an Adult Toolkit for/with the tenants during the midmorning on Tuesday.

Certified Nurses Assistants (CNA) Week was celebrated during June 13-19, 2024.  Each of our CNAs was honored with a simple “Homemade Rose” during the afternoon on Wednesday, to help express our gratitude for their hard work, compassion, and kindness to the residents and tenants.

The Dietary Department staff for providing the weekly goodies (fruity drinks, lemonade, popcorn, brownies, donuts, and muffins) for the CNAs, residents, tenants, and staff to help celebrate together throughout CNA Week.

Megan Staner (Lutheran Day Camp) with students assisting from Marquette in making planter boxes, “Gardening” with the residents.  Thanks to everyone involved and who volunteered with this project given to MVCC & SVAL during the early evening time on Wednesday.
