Depending upon the Jackson County COVID positivity rate, masks and eyewear are required for all visitors, volunteers, and staff at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC) and the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL). This is per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines, with updates occurring almost daily. Please call/phone before visiting, as conditions may change. (We are currently open to the volunteers, visitors, organizations, and/or entertainment Activity visitors into the facility.)
Thanks to all the families of the residents and tenants for contacting staff regarding their visiting times with their loved ones and following the CDC Guidelines and mask wearing, when “Connecting” with their families during the weekdays and weekends.
In house Activities have resumed; individualized and very small group Activities with the residents and tenants, and volunteer visits have resumed, as able; following the CDC Guidelines, with staff, visitors and volunteers wearing masks and protective eyewear.
Residents, tenants, and their families are encouraged to connect with loved ones with visits, or via phone calls and/or video chats, that are available throughout the day.
Individualized or self-directed Activities with in-room visits are given as able. The Presbyterian Church Service, the Lutheran Church Service (with Pastor Paul Gammelin) and the Catholic Church Services (with Pastor Robert Gross or Associate Pastor David Ambrosy) have been held weekly on the local cable Channel-32 for the Catholics during the past four weeks and on Sundays.
Lutheran Service on local cable Channel-26 was held for the Lutherans on Sundays.
Individualized in-room “Exercises” were held with the residents during the past four weeks, as able.
Individualized in-room “Manicures” activities were held with the residents (individualized at the MVCC) during the past four weeks, as able.
“Games” were held with the tenants (at the SVAL) during the afternoon on Monday through Friday, following the CDC Guidelines and Precautions.
“Games of Choice” were individualized with the tenants (at the SVAL) during the past four weeks.
Individualized “Games of Choice” (in their rooms at MVCC) were available for the residents/tenants, Monday – Thursday, as able.
The Salem Lutheran Church Choir (Andrew, Iowa) (volunteers) for their visit and musical choir entertainment for the residents during the midmorning on Sunday.
The Mennonites Choir (volunteers) for visiting and hosting the “Music with the Mennonites Choir”, providing liturgical music, hymns and spiritual songs involving a “four-part singing” in perfect harmony for/with the residents (at the MVCC) and the tenants (at the SVAL) during the evening-time on Sunday.
Kelby Mueller (volunteer) for hosting “Music with Kelby”, providing guitar music entertainment for/with the tenants (at the SVAL) and the residents (at the MVCC) during the noontime on two Sundays.
Kayla Miller, Brielle and Brenna and Bel Sieverding (volunteers) for playing games and doing manicures for/with the residents and tenants during the weekend.

The musical activity “Oldie But Goodie” – “Blast From the Past – 60s Trivia” was held with the residents (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Tuesday.
Chef Kevin Hebert (Executive Chef from Healthcare of Iowa – with a background in fine dining and private Chef for 44 years) for visiting the MVCC and hosting a live cooking demonstration (activity) in front of an involved audience of residents, tenants, family members, staff, volunteers, and visitors during the afternoon on Tuesday. Jill Huling (Dietary Supervisor), Karen Parramore (Dietary), Nursing staff, Environmental Services staff, Joy Marchiando (Recreation Program Director), all the involved staff, and Patty Reynolds (Administrator) for their assistance in making this event possible during the afternoon on Tuesday.

[Hung Le is a seminarian from University of St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary (Mundelein, Illinois). He has an internship with four parishes: St. Catherine, St. Donatus, St. Joseph’s (Bellevue, Iowa) and Sts. Peter & Paul (Springbrook, Iowa) Catholic Churches; with Rev. Robert Gross and Rev. David Ambrosy at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (Bellevue, Iowa). Hung Le’s internship will last until May 2023, and then Hung Le will return to Mundelein Seminary. Hung Le is Vietnamese. The residents (at the MVCC), tenants (at the SVAL) and staff welcome Hung Le to our Bellevue, Iowa community.]
