In-house Individualized Activities or self-directed Activities with the residents [in their rooms at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC)] and the tenants [at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL)] resume (following the quarantine due to COVID), as able.

Individualized or self-directed Activities with in-room visits are given, as able.  The Presbyterian Church Service, the Lutheran Church Service (with Pastor Paul Gammelin), and the Catholic Church Services (with Pastor Robert Gross or Associate Pastor David Ambrosy) have been held weekly on the local cable channels, Channel-32 for the Catholics during the past four weeks and on Sundays.

Lutheran Church Service on local cable Channel-26 was held for the Lutherans on Sundays.

Individualized in-room “Exercises” were held with the residents during the past four weeks, as able.

Individualized in-room “Manicures” activities were held with the residents (individualized at the MVCC) during the past four weeks, as able.

“Games” were/are available with the tenants in their own apartments at the SVAL during the afternoon on Monday through Friday, following the CDC Guidelines and Precautions.

Individualized “Games of Choice” was available (for/to the residents/tenants in their respective rooms/apartments at the MVCC/SVAL) Monday – Thursday, as able.

The Mennonites for hosting “Music with the Mennonite Choir”, providing musical entertainment for/with the residents (at the MVCC) and tenants (at the SVAL) during the evening-time on Sunday.

The Dietary Department staff for their assistance with Activities, hosting “Beverage of the Week with Dietary” held for the tenants (at the SVAL) and the residents (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Mondays.

Jr. Steines (volunteer) for hosting “Euchre Games” (at the SVAL) during the afternoon on Monday.

Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) and Jill Huling (Dietary Supervisor) for assisting Activities, hosting “Piñata Day” held with the residents and tenants during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Hannah Majerus and Adyson Nemmers (staff, volunteers) for hosting “Games and Crafts” held with the residents during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Mary Kubik (volunteer) for hosting “Bingo Games” with the tenants (at the SVAL) during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Deacon Loras Weber with his wife Carolyn Weber, and Cindy Granse (volunteers) for hosting a “Good Friday Prayer Service” for all the residents and tenants and staff (at the MVCC) during the midmorning on Good Friday.

The Dietary Department for assisting Activities with the “Color Easter Eggs” activity held with the residents and tenants during the afternoon on Good Friday with Joy M. (staff).

Marlyce Tebbe (tenant, volunteer) for leading the rosary prayers for the Catholic tenants during the past month.

Robert Gross (Pastor, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa) with Mr. Hung Le (Seminarian Intern) for hosting the Catholic Mass and Communion Service (at the MVCC) during the midmorning on Wednesday.  Jr. Steines, Judy Moran, and Maryetta and Larry Lampe (volunteers) for assisting with reciting the Rosary prayers.  Maryetta Lampe and Judy Moran (volunteers) for assisting the distribution of Communion to the tenants (at the SVAL) and the residents (at the MVCC).

Diane Dempewolf (volunteer) for hosting “Lutheran Bingo Games”, held with the residents (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Wednesday.

Minnie Ozpirincci (RN, Interim DON) for assisting Activities and orchestrating an Easter Egg Hunt (on Saturday) for the residents and tenants and families.  Thanks to all the participants for making this a fun-filled event.

Mrs. Kim Moore (HS Math, HS Computers & PowerSchool Facilitator – Marquette Catholic High School – Bellevue, Iowa) and her students: Brady Sieverding, Wyatt Gregorich, Justin Severson, Amber Kremer, Ashley Hoffmann, and Anna Cota from Marquette Catholic School for hosting “Games – Euchre and Dice”, that was held with the residents and tenants (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Thursday [following the CDC Guidelines, with Joy M. (staff)].

Mrs. Blair Gerlach [HS Bellevue Future Farmers of America (FFA) Advisor and Agriculture Instructor Department (BS in Agricultural Education, Teacher Certification) – Bellevue Community High School – Bellevue, Iowa] and her Agriculture FFA Class students: Hope Griebel (who brought chickens), Kaden Guether (who brought a goat), Bel Sieverding (who brought a calf), Morgan Weber (who brought a Horse), Graoyn Wagner (who brought a horse), Lexi Felderman (who brought a calf), Bella Liebfried (who brought a horse), Koleson Merrrick (who brought a goat), with Payton Lorack (Agriculture Student Teacher), Blair Gerlach (who brought her beautiful dog).  Thanks to all the students for transporting their pet animals.  Thanks to all the students’ parents for their support.  Thanks to Scott Weber (Parent of Morgan, Farmer, Volunteer, supporter, and transporter of the horses) for their visiting with us and celebrating “Farm Animal Day” during the afternoon on Thursday!  Thanks to everyone involved in making this event possible.

Congratulations and Best of Wishes to Virginia Valent (Dietary staff) for her dedication (of almost 17 years) of service at the MVCC in the food service area.  [A surprise “retirement / appreciation” party for Virginia was held with the residents, tenants, and staff during the late afternoon on Friday.  Thanks to Lenae Sieverding (Administrator), Pam Reedy (Administrative Assistant), Theresa Schwager (Environmental Services Supervisor), Joy Marchiando (Recreation Program Director), Tracy Hammond (RN, MDS Coordinator, Restorative Nurse), and all the staff involved in this grand party for Virginia.]

Congratulations to Dorothy M. (resident) for completing her “Skilled Rehabilitation Therapies to Home Program” at the MVCC; her Skilled Rehabilitation Graduation was then duly celebrated.

Congratulations to Melvin “Butch” D. (resident) who was discharged to go home this week after his completion of our “Rehabilitation to Home Program” at the MVCC.
