National Skilled Nursing Care Week (May 12-18, 2019) with this year’s theme to “Live Soulfully” was celebrated by engaging the residents/tenants in fun filled activities throughout the week.

KMAQ Radio (Maquoketa, Iowa; AM 1320, FM 95.1) for hosting the “KMAQ Radio Bingo Show”, being available Monday-Friday this month and enjoyed by our resident/tenant avid bingo players.

Pastor Shannon Witt (First Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, Iowa) (volunteer) for hosting a Presbyterian Church Service with volunteers from the Presbyterian Church and with the residents/tenants during the afternoon on Thursday.  Samuel Felderman, (Christian Education Coordinator, First Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, Iowa) (volunteer) for providing the piano music during the afternoon on Thursday.

The St. Joseph’s Catholic School 3-year-old Preschool students and Day Care children – Mrs. Theresa Schwager (Preschool Teacher) with students for assembling some handcrafted “May Day Baskets” that were for and given to the residents and tenants during the afternoon on Wednesday.

In honor of “Administrative & Healthcare Administrative Professional’s Week” and “Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Week” , representatives of the residents/tenants/staff of MVCC/SVAL assembled “tokens of appreciation” and “tokens” were presented to the aforementioned professionals during the afternoon on Friday.

Callie Sternhagen (RN., Certified Nurse Aide Instructor, Diversacare, LLC.) for hosting a 75-hour Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training class at MVCC/SVAL.  Students: Madilyn Michel, Jaide Sporkin, Merleen Neth, and Savanna Toomer for attending and completing the 75-hour CNA Training class and receiving their “Certificates of Completion” during the afternoon on Thursday.

National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2019) was recognized/celebrated by presenting a colorful Crystal Angel figurine, a Nursing Badge retractor, and a cup of “goodies” to each of our Nurses (from the residents, tenants, and staff) sometime between Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon.  “Thanks for working tirelessly in saving lives, providing comfort, and teaching us how to care for ourselves and our loved ones.”  – Scrubs Magazine Team.
