Lucille Elizabeth (Kilburg) Bormann
My name is Lucille Bormann. I am from the Bellevue and Preston areas. I was born in Spragueville, Iowa on a farm to the proud parents of Peter and Augusta (Puetz) Kilburg. I had seven siblings: Ruth Heiar, Jean Hoffmann, Millie Haxmeier, Bernice Bormann, Marcy Roling, Leroy Kilburg (deceased), and Merlin Kilburg (deceased).
I met and married Sylvester Bormann. Sylvester and I farmed in the Bellevue area for many years, before moving into the city of Bellevue, Iowa. Together, Sylvester and I had five children: Daryl, Glenn(deceased), Kay, Debra, and Mary Ellen (deceased). I have 12 grand children and many great grandchildren.
After Sylvester passed, I moved into the town of Preston, Iowa in 2002 to be closer to my family. My son, Daryl, runs the “Preston Lumber” since 1962 in Preston, Iowa.
I enjoy playing Euchre, 500, Rummy, collecting Pepper & Salt Shakers, embroidery, traveling the bus tours to the West Coast and to the Black Hills of South Dakota, reading, KMAQ Radio and the Polka Party, scrabble; and all to keep me busy. I like to be busy.
I love my children, my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren. And, I enjoy getting stronger every day.
