The volunteers of the Bellevue American Legion Post #273 Revere Color Guard:  Larry Lampe, Jim Kilburg, John Pitlo, Dick Zeimet, Bill Greibel, Gary Kilburg, and Dale Ernst; and the Ladies Auxiliary:  Vivian Pitlo, Diane Strickler, Sue Roben and Maryetta Lampe for presenting their Veteran’s Program with singing and meeting with our own veterans:  Louis Bernhard, James Cloos, Barbara Cooper, Robert Flemming, Allen Kilburg, Lloyd Kilburg, Victor Kuper, Raymond Lawson, Roland Petesch, Joseph Potter, and Eldon Weis from Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC) and Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL) during the morning on Friday.  Maryetta Lampe and Vivian Pitlo (volunteers) from the American Legion Auxiliary Ladies for their assistance during this event.

In Honor of our Veterans, with Respect, Honor and Gratitude, Thank you and all the veterans, service men and women for their and your service in preserving our freedoms 24/7.  May God bless you and may God bless America.  Benita Dobson (resident, volunteer) for presenting to the Color Guard crafted cards, one made for each of the Color Guards, enclosed in assembled gift bags prepared by the residents at MVCC on Friday, as token of appreciation of service.  Amy Roth (staff) and all involved staff for their assistance in Activities during this event on Monday.

Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce and Carrie Weaver (Executive Director Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce) for their generous gifts and candy for the residents/tenants to handout/share to/with the “little ones” in/of our Bellevue Community during our Annual Halloween “Trick-or-Treat” event at MVCC/SVAL.

The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Bellevue Board of Directors, Carrie Weaver, (Executive Director, Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce), and the Bellevue Chamber members, for their donations toward candy for the residents and tenants to handout during our Halloween Trick-or-Treat event on October 28th.  Rodney Dobson, Anonymous, Theresa Samuel (staff), Joy Marchiando (staff), and all the participating families, volunteers, and staff for donating Halloween candy and joining in this Halloween event for the residents and tenants.  Thanks to all the residents, tenants, families, Sandra Hayward (volunteer), and all involved staff: Ealana Roling (Dietary Supervisor), Dietary, Nursing, Housekeeping, Amy Neblung-Roth (Administrative Assistant), and Theresa Schwager (Activities) for their assistance with Activities throughout this Trick-or-Treat event during the afternoon on Sunday.

All the involved Jackson County Auditor staff and the volunteers Thelma Nissen and Karen Portz who were sent as a “team” for the residents and tenants to vote during the entire day of Monday.

Jason & Carrie Rowan (volunteers) for hosting “Pet Therapy with K-9 Comfort”, sharing a very obedient and friendly female dog named Ally with the residents/tenants at MVCC/SVAL during the afternoon on Wednesday.  [Ally is the “Therapy Dog” at/from Carson’s Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.  Jason Rowan is an Animal Behavior College (ABC) certified dog trainer with K-9 Comfort in Bellevue, Iowa.]

Jason & Carrie Rowan (volunteers) for hosting “Pet Therapy with K-9 Comfort”, sharing a very obedient and friendly female dog named Lizzy with the residents/tenants at MVCC/SVAL during the afternoon this past week.  [Lizzy is the “Therapy Dog” in training from Parker-Millard Funeral Home & Crematory in Columbia, MO.  Lizzy is a 7 month old Labradoodle (part chocolate lab and part poodle).]

Bea Hansen, Lois Kramer, Lorraine Ruff, Betty Michels, and Meg Baugh (volunteers) for hosting and assisting “Crafts with Bea” at MVCC during the afternoon on Tuesday, where the residents/tenants made a “Thanksgiving Clothespin Pin”.  Bea Hansen for providing all the craft ideas and supplies for the residents/tenants for this activity on Tuesday.

Gene Bryson (volunteer) for his assistance with and driving the van for the “Van Outing” with the residents/tenants at MVCC/SVAL on their “Annual Fall & Leaf Tour Ride” through the colorful sights of Jackson County during the afternoon on Tuesday with Theresa.

The 20+ students from the Bellevue Community Elementary School with Mrs. Billie Schroeder (4th Grade Teacher) and student teacher Ms. Madison McElmeel for visiting, singing, reading stories, and doing a “Halloween Traditions” interview “one-on-one” with the residents/tenants of MVCC/SVAL during the mid-morning on Friday.  (The students did a wonderful display of engaging themselves with the residents and tenants; leaving behind a lot of smiles, soft laughter and “sunshine”.)  Mrs. Jeanette Hartung-Schroeder (Elementary & Preschool Principal, Bellevue Community Elementary School) for her assistance, teachers, and students for “making a difference” (learning, sharing, interacting) in the lives of others.  Mrs. Amy Neblung-Roth (Administrative Assistant) for assisting Activities on Friday.

The 20+ students from St. Joseph’s Catholic Pre-school and Kindergarten with Mrs. Jessica Medinger for visiting, singing, reading stories, and doing a “Halloween Traditions” and “one-on-one” with the residents/tenants of MVCC/SVAL during the mid-morning on Friday.  (The students did a wonderful display of engaging themselves with the residents and tenants; leaving behind a lot of smiles, soft laughter and “sunshine”.)

Marquette Catholic High School for their “Make A Difference Day” visit with students: Kelsey Gerlach, Miranda Peters, Joe Anderson and LuAnne Anderson (MHS parent) for assisting MVCC and SVAL with some housekeeping tasks, window washing, etc., all which are/were greatly appreciated during the day of Wednesday.

Congratulations to the new Healthcare Professionals in receiving their Certificate of Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class held at MVCC and SVAL; they are: Laura Marie Dague, Hope Marie Swartz, and Doreen K. Solomon.  Thanks to class Instructor Callie Sternhagen (RN., DiversaCare, LLC.), James Harkness (Administrator), and Amy Waller (RN, Director of Nursing).

Deacon Robert Wood (St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa) (volunteer) for officiating at our Annual Memorial Remembrance Service and Mary Reed (volunteer) for providing beautiful piano music during the afternoon on Saturday at MVCC and SVAL.  Thanks to all those involved (volunteers and staff) with making this event a memorable one.  Thanks to volunteers Sandra Hayward and Jennifer Murphy (staff), and Dietary, Nursing and all who were involved for their assistance.
