Marian Vaughn (volunteer) for making two trips to MVCC; on the first trip, she brought 8 handsewn walker bags and 5 lap quilts for the Veterans; on the second trip, she brought 5 handsewn wheelchair footrests bags and 2 lap quilts for the Veterans.  Marian presented these lap quilts to our resident/tenant Veterans from the American Legion Auxiliary Ladies.

Volunteers: Barb Kilburg (Jackson/Clinton County Dairy Association) and Connor Thomas (2018 Jackson/Clinton County “Little Sir Dairy Man”) (with his mother, Mary Thomas and siblings: Isaac & Adleigh Thomas) for visiting and handing out ice cream cones to the residents and tenants to enjoy during the afternoon on Monday.

Kenneth Kilburg (volunteer) for hosting “Kenny’s Visits” at MVCC and SVAL, visiting the residents and tenants during the morning on Tuesdays; and for hosting Men’s Club with the men on Fridays.

Dave Eischeid and Sue & Earl Sawvel (volunteers) for hosting “Artwork with Dave and Sue” (artwork classes) at MVCC during the morning on Thursdays and helping our resident/tenant art students unlock their art talents.  The Bellevue Arts Council for sponsoring these Painting Classes.

Jason & Carrie Rowan (volunteers) for hosting “Pet Therapy with K-9 Comfort”, sharing a very obedient and friendly female dog named Ally with the residents/tenants during the afternoon on Wednesday.  [Ally is the “Therapy Dog” at/from Carson’s Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.  Jason Rowan is an Animal Behavior College (ABC) certified dog trainer with K-9 Comfort in Bellevue, Iowa.]

Bea Hansen, Lois Kramer, Lorraine Ruff, Mina Theisen, Dula Tebbe, and Meg Baugh (volunteers) for hosting and assisting “Crafts with Bea” at MVCC during the afternoon on Tuesday, where the residents/tenants made a “Patriotic (R-W-B) Beaded Necklace”.  Bea Hansen for providing all the craft ideas and supplies for the residents/tenants for this activity on Tuesday.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Prayer Shawl Committee and their representatives Carol Keil and Pat Ries for delivering and distributing hand-crafted prayer shawls for all the Catholics and other residents and tenants after the Catholic Church Service on Wednesday.

Pastor Paul Gammelin (St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue, Iowa) (volunteer) for hosting a Lutheran Church Service for the residents/tenants during the morning on Sundays (via cable TV).

Sandra & Robert Hayward (volunteers) for visiting “one on one” with the residents/tenants during the mid-morning on Sundays.

Thanks to the 40+ students from the Bellevue Community Elementary School with Mrs. Chris Iosbaker (3rd Grade Teacher) and Mrs. Grutz’s (3rd Grade Teacher) for their visit and their students reading stories and visiting “one on one” with the residents/tenants of MVCC/SVAL during the afternoon on Tuesday.  The students did a wonderful display of engaging themselves with the residents/tenants; leaving behind a lot of smiles, soft laughter and “sunshine”.  We look forward to the students next visit.  Thanks also to Mrs. Jeanette Hartung-Schroeder (Elementary & Preschool Principal, Bellevue Community Elementary School) for her assistance, teachers, and students for “making a difference” and “touching” the lives of others.

Memorial Day is/was a day to honor all the Americans who died in military service.  We honor and give thanks all our American soldiers, men and women of the military of the past & present.  “The patriot’s blood is the seed of Freedom’s tree.” - Thomas Campbell.  Thanks to all the American veterans of the military.

Thanks to the volunteers of the Bellevue American Legion Post #273 Revere Color Guard:  Larry Lampe, Dick Zeimet, Jim Kilburg, Chuck Melton, Ron Dempewolf, Bill Griebel, and John Pitlo for presenting their Memorial Day Program with singing “God Bless America and My Country” along with meeting and visiting with our own veterans:  Eugene Granahan, Marvin Johnson, Allen Kilburg, Raymond Lawson, Louis Bernhard, James Cloos, Roland Petesch, Eldon Wohlers, Robert McCool, Barbara Cooper, Victor Kuper, Robert Flemming, and Lloyd Kilburg from MVCC and SVAL on Monday mid-morning.  Thanks to volunteers Bob & Sandra Hayward for being involved in/with this Legionnaires and Auxiliary event on Monday.
