Well, Fall has arrived, and I hope everyone is enjoying the October weather.  I thought I would talk this month about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).  It’s not an easy thing to discuss with people and often people have not ever had to think about this before.  When an individual is admitted to our facility, they must complete our admission packet.  Within that pack is our Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Policy.  We review the policy with them and at that time they must make the decision whether to choose to be resuscitated if their heart were to stop or to not proceed with CPR.  It’s a very difficult question for many to have sprung on them particularly if they have never been presented with it before.  Many times, though people have prepared living wills and those questions are addressed in their living will.  I would urge people to do some research and know the benefits and outcomes of this process before they make that difficult decision.  Have a very enjoyable fall season!
