Boy, summer went fast.  Here we are, and it’s fall already.

I thought I would take the time this month to tell you all a little bit about the new Medicare changes coming down the pike for skilled nursing facilities.  Beginning October 1, 2019, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be using a new case-mix classification model called Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM).  This will be used for classifying Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) patients in a covered Part A Stay with us.  This new system will not have much of an effect on the patients benefits, but it does change the way we the providers treat, document services and are reimbursed for those services.  As you all know, a Part A stay in a skilled nursing facility is a short stay that is driven by the therapy services provided.  CMS believes this new methodology will save dollars and make the system a more level playing field for all providers.  We’ll have to see how it works out.

Have a great fall everyone.
