Hello, hope all is well with everyone.  I am currently working on our new winter menu and am super excited to be adding some requests and favorites to it.  We celebrated our August birthday on Wednesday, Aug 18th.  Birthday celebrations were a tradition here at Mill Valley that went by the way side during the pandemic, so I am super excited to be able to bring that back.  Our residents picked out the menu of : Meat Lovers Pizza, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Beats and Birthday Cake.  Fun by all was had.  September’s birthday menu will be chosen by our tenants.

Speaking of tradition, below is a tradition in our family. My Grandmother would make multiple pans of “sewer mud” for all family functions, and I had the pleasure of making it for Happy Hour this month. 

 Oreo Ice Cream Dessert  - AKA Sewer Mud


  • 1 package (15-1/2 ounces) Oreo cookies, crushed, divided
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1 jar (16 ounces) hot fudge ice cream topping,
  • 1 jar (16 ounces) caramel ice cream topping
  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed


  1. In a large bowl, combine 3-3/4 cups cookie crumbs and butter.  Press into a greased 13x9-in. dish.  Spread with ice cream; cover and freeze until set.
  2. Drizzle fudge topping over ice cream; cover and freeze until set.  Spread with whipped topping; sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs.  Cover and freeze 2 hours or until firm.  Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving.

Holiday meal is $10.00.
Please provide 24 hours notice when sharing a meal with your loved one.
This is to ensure enough food is available and a separate table is set up.
Limit of 2 guests per resident/tenant.  For larger groups, contact the Kitchen.
