I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer months and is looking forward to a beautiful autumn season.  Mill Valley and Sunrise Villa top priority is providing services to residents and tenants with a focus on health, safety, and dignity, as well as, our facility staying up-to-date with regulations and best practices to achieve our goal.

We Celebrate Successes

Mill Valley is celebrating our recent successes as we received our annual recertification survey through the Iowa DIAL (Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing.  The survey results indicated that Mill Valley was in compliance with State licensure and Federal participation requirements for long-term care facilities participating in the Medicare and/or Medicaid programs.  The findings recommended one plan of correction to review policy on transfer techniques.  Mill Valley provided retraining to all employees on lift training.  We are very proud of our team for all their hard work and dedication this past year with providing a safe and healthy living environment.

Mill Valley also had the annual Fire Marshal Life Safety Code Inspection, and we had one recommendation for requesting detailed records from the fire alarm company in regard to maintaining detailed records which has been completed.  Mill Valley was very pleased with the two annual compliance and regulatory inspections, as we achieved great successes.

Maintaining compliance with various regulations which can include infection control, documentation standards, or emergency procedures.  Best Practices include accurate and proper documentation, which is the backbone of compliance.  The importance of timely and accurate charting.  Compliance Achievement reflects our team’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of care.  Keep up the great work Mill Valley TEAM!

In August Mill Valley experienced a COVID-19 outbreak affecting residents and staff.  The safety and well-being of our residents remain our top priority.  This would not be possible without the coordinated efforts of our incredible staff, and the understanding and support of our residents’ families.  Together we have managed to implement effective safety protocols that minimize the risk and protect the health of everyone in our facility.

Thank you, families, for limiting your in-person visits and adjusting to new communication methods during this time frame.  Your cooperation and understanding have been instrumental in reducing the risk and keeping loved ones safe.  We continue regular testing, vaccination efforts, and enhanced cleaning protocols.

Thank you to our staff for their tireless commitment to care.  The adherence to safety protocols from wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) to following strict hygiene practices, which is crucial to keeping our facility safe.  Staff conducting regular health screenings, maintaining social distancing measures, and providing emotional support to our residents have not gone unnoticed.

As we continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19, we want to thank everyone for contributing to keep the residents and staff safe.  Together we are ensuring that our residents live with dignity, respect, and the highest quality of care.

Sincerely,
Lenae
